Improved I.S.O. Classification for East Union Township

In the early spring of 2012, with cooperation with the East Union Township Board of Supervisors, the Sheppton-Oneida Volunteer Fire Company undertook the task of updating the Insurance Services Office public protection classification for East Union Township. This number is assigned from 1-10 and represents the fire risk category that a municipality encompasses. This survey takes into consideration equipment, training, and water supply as well as a multitude of other factors to determine fire risk. Completion of this project took hundreds of hours and was submitted in the fall of 2012. We are proud to report that East Union Township's public protection classification (PPC) has dropped from a 9 to a 5! This is directly related to the increased training standards of our volunteers, updated equipment purchases, as well as an increase in water supply within East Union Township. This ultimately results in significant decreases in fire insurance premiums for East Union Township homes and businesses. We are asking that each and every resident and business owner contact their insurance company to update your policy in order to reflect this change as this took effect March 1, 2013. If you have any questions on this change, please feel free to contact our office at (570) 384-4746.
